3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. (Ephesians 1:3-10)
Father help us to understand and believe your word, so that we might offer you right worship and grow in our love for you. All blessing is from you, and you have given us every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in your Son, Jesus. Before you even spoke the world into existence, you determined to choose us in Jesus to be like him, holy and blameless. In your love you have included and adopted us into your family. We are sons and daughters because of Jesus, not outcasts or orphans. We praise you for this glorious grace by which you have made us your own. Such grace that has secured our redemption in the blood of Jesus, and forgiveness of our sins. You have revealed the great mysteries of who you are and what your plan is in the Gospel of Jesus, as you bring all things under his dominion in heaven and on earth, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We confess that you are Lord of all, and we declare that you are our Lord also. May your blessing, grace, forgiveness, and wisdom direct our hearts to love you and our wills to obey you. And even so Lord Jesus, come quickly.
