A Prayer for the Week – September 28, 2020

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:4-10

Lord you have shown us love, mercy, and grace when we were dead in our sin. When we could never do enough to deserve your love, earn your favor, or escape your holy wrath, you acted with your loving grace and showed us mercy in Jesus Christ your Son. You have even given us a status we could never have hoped for, seated with Christ in heaven. For all eternity, we will be a display of your grace and a testimony of how a God so loving made a way to reconcile a people like us, and make us your own. This great salvation we own in Jesus is attained and secured for us by you, so if we have any boasting, may it be that your love, mercy, and grace were so great that you saved a people like us. It’s not by our works, but by your grace that you have saved us. In addition to eternal hope and salvation, you are also making us like Jesus, we are new creations in him now. Teach us to live in these new ways and walk in these new works that you have prepared for us. And should we display any godliness or righteousness or holiness, let us never forget that it is because of your grace, and so guard us against lawlessness and self-righteousness.

*Please pray for the Lord to provide Shore Community church a venue to use for our gatherings. Currently we meet regularly in a home, and will continue until he opens a way for us to meet in a better facility, storefront, etc.

Shore Community Church connects online for prayer typically one evening a week. If you would like us to pray for you or if you would like the Zoom link for the meeting, contact us and we will be in touch.
