A Prayer for the Week – July 29, 2020

9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:9-14; ESV)

Fill me with the knowledge of your will Father, with spiritual wisdom and understanding. Help me to see my life through the lens of your will, rather than according to my limited understanding and my desires which can be selfish and sinful. Strengthen me to walk in a way that is worthy of you. Let me be fruitful in my work and grow in knowing you. Strengthen me with your power to endure all that is before me and be joyful in it. Thank you for giving me an inheritance with all those who know your Son. When I was lost in darkness you brought me into the light of your Kingdom, giving me redemption and forgiveness. I pray for myself and the people who are my church. May we be filled with the knowledge of your will and walk in a way that is pleasing to you.
