Experiencing Wholeness in Jesus in a Broken World
James 2:1-13
Main Point: Love your neighbor without partiality because it inhibits experiencing wholeness in Jesus.
Partiality is treating people the way you feel like, rather than according to the Gospel of Jesus.
Experiencing wholeness in Jesus is inhibited by acting with partiality because of many reasons:
1) Speaking or acting with partiality shows a deficient understanding of Jesus (v1).
2) Speaking or acting with partiality is motivated by evil thoughts toward God and others (v2-4).
3) Speaking or acting with partiality ignores God’s actions in salvation and providence (V5).
4) Speaking or acting with partiality forgets God’s creation of humanity (v6).
5) Speaking or acting with partiality forgets how the wealth and power are corrupting entities (v6-7).
6) Speaking or acting with partiality is a contradiction of Jesus’ law (v8-9).
7) Speaking or acting with partiality forgets that we are in deep need of God’s mercy (v9-11).
