A Prayer for the Week – December 15, 2020

9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:9-14; ESV)

Lord you have revealed your glory to us in your Son Jesus. When we were in Darkness, you entered into it, and shined your light upon us to reconcile us to yourself, forgive our sin, show us your ways, and give us hope. We thank you that your actions to us are full of grace and truth, light and life, even while we remain in a sinful world. Lord, give us the grace to walk in the light of your Word and ways. Give us the grace to believe in Jesus enough to obey you and live according to your ways. And Father, give us the grace to shine the light of your love to those who have not entered into the light of Jesus Christ. During this season of celebration, we rejoice that you have taken flesh and dwelt upon us, not casting us off or rejecting us, but rescuing us in Jesus Christ.
