A Prayer for the Week – May 27, 2020

20 Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21 ESV)

Father, as your word says, I ask you to equip me with all that I need to walk according to your will today. In Christ, you have made peace, paying for my sin by his blood. As the Great Shepherd, you have cared for me in more ways than I know. So today, work in me what pleases you and give me faith to trust you today, doing what you say. You have raised Christ and I know you will raise me on the final day. So between this day and that one, help me to live for your glory and praise. You are working in me that which is pleasing to you. So when I fail, when I can’t seem to be the person I want to be, or when life isn’t working the way I thought it would, I find refuge in the knowledge that your work in me is pleasing to you. You’ve removed your wrath against my sin in Jesus and because of Jesus’ work in me you are pleased with me. You love me enough to redeem me from sin, rescue me from the grave, and make me into the person you have always intended me to be. I’m not that person yet, but I’m glad you haven’t given up on making me into someone who is like Jesus. Only you are worthy of all of my worship, so with the way I live, may you be glorified. Align my desires and affections with your will. I pray in Jesus Name, Amen.
