A Prayer for the Week – May 6, 2020

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2; ESV)

Father you have shown me mercy over and over throughout my life in both ways I know and in ways I do not know. Your providence has preserved me to this day, and will preserve me until the days which you have numbered for me end. More than all else, you did not spare your own Son, but sent Jesus to die on the cross and rise again so that I might have mercy and be reconciled to you. I am not my own but was bought with the price of the blood of Jesus. Your mercy endures forever and your grace is abundant. Lord, help me to respond to this by living as a sacrifice to you today. You are making me into a new creation in Christ, help me to devote myself wholly to you. May I be more influenced by your Kingdom than the kingdom of this world. May the pattern of this world not draw me away from you. Transform my mind to think about my life and your work in it rightly. Transform my mind so that I can trust you in the midst of a world of confusion and turmoil. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be please in your sight O Lord my Rock and Redeemer. Give me wisdom and discernment in my circumstances and with the people you’ve placed around me, so that I would follow your will and not the whims of the crowd. May all that I think, and do, and say work to renew me into the good and complete person you are making me to be in Christ. Amen.
