A Prayer for the Week – August 18, 2020

1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4; ESV)

Lord help me to live now in the ways I will always live with you in your Kingdom. I have the hope of resurrection from the dead and life forever with you, so help me to live in light of this glorious hope. There are distractions at every turn, but Jesus today I set my mind upon you and the life you give me. You are seated at the right hand of God where you intercede for me, so as often as I may feel the guilt and weight of my sin, you have freed me from it, and your atonement of my sin is lasting and complete. What comfort and hope to know that I am hidden in God by you and with you. Today I die to my sinful ambitions, my selfish desires, and by faith live in you, and desire to follow your ways and commands. Jesus, you are my life. I’m the truest and fullest version of who you created me to be when I find my identity in you. May I be ready for the moment when I’m brought into your presence for eternity, and even so Lord Jesus, come quickly.
