A Prayer for the Week – June 17, 2020

5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:5-9; ESV)

Lord may the way I live my life represent the relationship you have given me with yourself and not be clouded by sin’s darkness. Help me to walk in your light and truth. Thank you that you sent Jesus to die for me and that his blood covers all my sins. I know my sins, they are numerous and offensive to you, but you are merciful to me and have forgiven me in Christ. You are faithful and just. Your faithfulness endures to all generations. Jesus’ death was sufficient to cover my sin and to remove its penalty from all who come to you through him. Thank you for making a way for me to be reconciled to you. Thank you for forgiving me, cleansing me, and loving me. May my life increasingly reflect your righteousness and not my sinfulness so that the message of the Gospel wouldn’t be contradicted by my actions or words. Amen.
