A Prayer for the Week – June 3, 2020

12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:12-16, ESV)

Lord you know my heart, my motives, my thoughts, and my intentions. I don’t have to explain myself to you, and I certainly cannot justify myself before you. You see all things clearly and plainly. Nothing is hidden from you, but all that I am is laid out before your eyes. Your word tells me that even though you see me in all of my flaws, you love me and have called me to know you through Jesus Christ. You’ve given me mercy and forgiveness, new and eternal life in him. Help me to know and trust you and your word. Help me to live before others in a real, genuine, and authentic way today and make me bold with the Gospel. Let me not forget that I will give an account to you when you come to judge the living and the dead while at the same time remembering that there is no condemnation for those who are in Jesus Christ. Help me to be fully and whole-heartedly devoted to you, to seek you in your word, and to obey you in my life because your commands are life-giving and good. Amen.
