1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Lord you are the Great Shepherd who cares for your flock. Since it is you who looks after me, you make sure I have what I need. Only you can restore my soul, Lord. I may seek enjoyment in many places, but only you can bring true rest to me. Lead my life according to your ways that are righteous for your own Glory. When I walk through death’s shadow I have no reason to be afraid. You have promised to never leave nor forsake me. You will be with me and be my comforter. You also know those who are my enemies, and you provide for me in spite of their issues with me. You cause my cup to overflow with the good you have done to me and the mercy you have shown me all my life. I know you will never leave me and I will dwell with you forever. You are my hope and I rest in you. You are the Good Shepherd who has given his life for the sheep. Jesus, you gave your life for me and you are my shepherd in whom I have entrusted the care of my life. Amen.
