6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:6-11 (ESV)

Lord you know my desire to claim my rights, to assert myself, and to force my plans. So today, help me to humble myself before you and trust in your plan. When stress, worry, and anxiety well up within my heart, remind me to trust in your providential care. When my plans are frustrated, give me the grace to trust your plan. Help me to keep my mind stayed upon you, and don’t let it be clouded by sinful desires, worldly corruption, or demonic influence. Strengthen me to resist the temptations and influence of the evil one today. May the suffering that comes my way be met with joy in my heart, because I know you are in control. Strengthen the brothers and sister in Christ all over the world who are suffering in much greater ways than I am today. Place upon my mind someone I need to pray for and encourage. And Lord, I thank you for your grace given to me, and the hope I have in Jesus. Because your word assures me of it, I know that you will restore me, confirm the salvation you have given me, strengthen me, and establish me in Christ eternally. In a world of uncertainty, anxiety, and fear, let me cling to your immovable truth. To you belongs all authority and dominion, so today I trust in your great plan. May I live under your authority and for your glory. Amen.
