Digital Discipleship, Part 5 – The Christian Way of Looking at the World (Two Videos)

Video 1 of 2
Video 2 of 2

Creation. Corruption. Rescue. Restoration.

These four themes summarize the story of the Bible and the Christian way of looking at the world.

CREATION: What does the Scripture teach about Creation? Why does creation exist rather than not exist, why is there something rather than nothing? (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3)

CORRUPTION: How has God’s good creation has been corrupted by sin and evil? Why is the world the way it is? (Genesis 3)

RESCUE: How is the theme of God’s rescue woven into the stories of Scripture? (John 3:16-17; Romans 5:6-11)

From Noah to Abraham to Jacob to Moses to David to the Prophets to exile culminating in Jesus and out of that his church, God has worked throughout history to rescue his people from sin and judgment and set all things in creation back to rights.

RESTORATION: What is the Christian’s Hope? What are some of elements of God’s final restoration in Revelation 21: 2-5?

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved.

Romans 8:18-24
