Becoming a Christian
The Bible tells us that Jesus alone can forgive our sins, give salvation, and restore us to right relationship with God. All of us have broken lives, and we need to realize they can only be remade, renewed, and restored in Christ. We can’t fix this mess ourselves. Commit your life to Jesus. He’ll accept you however you come to him and begin his work in you.
Baptism and Lord’s Supper
Baptism is the ceremony that marks our entrance into God’s family. It’s the outward symbol that shows the spiritual work of new birth when we come to Christ. We die to ourselves and are raised with Jesus, and this is reflected in the immersion and raising out of the water. Talk to Pastor Kyle about the next Baptism at SCC.
The Lord’s Supper is the ceremony that marks our ongoing fellowship within God’s family. It’s institution by the Lord is found in Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22, and 1 Corinthians 11. SCC typically observes it on the final Sunday of each month. Lord’s Supper is an occasion of repentance and encouraging one another to walk rightly before the Lord as we take the bread and cup as a way of tangibly remembering what Jesus has done for us. Once you have committed your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are invited to take the Lord’s Supper with SCC.
Growth in Christ happens when your personal devotion and life within the church body come together. Regular church attendance for worship and fellowship with other believers is the normal way of growth for believers. It is joined with individual bible reading and prayer along with family worship. And these serve as the context where we serve one another, exercising the gifts the Spirit gives us for the building up of the church. ShoreLife is our way of connecting your personal life and the life of the church.
Worship includes singing, praying, bible readying, and hearing sermons. For the believer, there are actions of hands-on worship as well. When we use our abilities for God’s glory, it’s an act of worship. There are many ways to both informally and formally serve SCC and worship God through your time, talents, and treasures.
