I wanted to offer another reading selection for this week as we prepare for Sunday. The sermon is entitled, “The Promises of Christmas” and if you would like to read the passages we will be talking about, they are found in Matthew 1-2.
Also, as we look toward next year, we will begin to study the Gospel according to Mark in January. I know for many in our church, this will be a new experience to work through an entire book, seeking to understand it as a whole. I assure you that this will be an enjoyable and beneficial study. In addition to reading the Gospel of Mark, I am also encouraging everyone to read through The King’s Cross over the course of the year. It is excellent and very readable. It’s available for just over $5 as an audiobook, so if you don’t want to read it, you can have someone read it to you! I believe that if we devote ourselves to studying God’s word, we will see God move in our lives, our church, and our community. If you have participated in a study like this before, I don’t need to tell you the value of it, but for anyone who has not, it will bring tremendous personal spiritual growth if you immerse yourself in studying the Bible.
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The best-selling book in history will certainly change your world if you read it!
